The UDA was founded in 2004 and brings together several other survivors’ associations around the former “Amicale d’Auschwitz” created in June 1945. The ICA was founded in 1952 by survivors of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp. Its purpose is to coordinate national Holocaust remembrance committees.

The DDHu also welcomes a new ambassador: François Veillerette, co-founder, spokesperson and director of Générations Futures. This association founded in 1996 is an environmental protection association approved by the Ministry of Ecology since 2008.

Great news for the HRDu!

The Executive Committee of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) unanimously supports the HRDu, so that it can be approved by the UN member states.

The Executive Committee meeting in Montevideo on April 6 unanimously approved the principle of recognition of the HRDu for final approval in Durban in November. This body considered that the text was in line with UCLG’s strategy in in terms of ecological transition, intergenerational links and construction of peace. The Executive Board approved the following recommendation: support the Universal Declaration of Human Rights so that it may be can be approved by the UN member states.

This marks a major step in the universal recognition of the HRDu as UCLG represents some 240,000 cities and metropolises around the world, or 5 billion people.
